Hi! Congrats on your pregnancy! This is an exciting time especially if this is your first pregnancy. So the question is when should you schedule your maternity session and what to wear. If you're counting by weeks, schedule your session when you're around 30 - 33 weeks pregnant. If you take maternity photos after your eighth month of pregnancy, you might be uncomfortable. The baby may be beginning to turn facing down and it becomes very heavy in the bottom of your belly. You may also be able to feel a hard, rounded lump under your ribs, which doesn't move very much. This is your baby's head, and it may, unfortunately, be quite uncomfortable for you. You want to avoid taking photos when your belly feels too heavy, usually after 35 weeks. You want your belly to be big and beautiful, but you don't want it to be so large that posing and holding different positions for any length of time becomes taxing. Of course each pregnancy is different so use your own judgement as a guide.
What to Wear for Your Maternity Session
We ask that you come with an outfit of your choice and then we also bring an outfit for you to change into. Some families choose to have a casual outfit and then a more formal gown. We have a few gowns in stock. There is no cost to use them currently. We also order gowns depending on the type of session you would like. Once a client wanted a beach theme and we purchased a lace maternity gown to go with the theme of whimsical and flowy. We are still growing our inventory. We also have suggestions for places to purchase beautiful maternity wear and headbands as well.
