Hello! Congratulations on your pregnancy! I know you are excited and on the brink of becoming parents in just a few short weeks. It seems like the pregnancy goes so fast until the very end when you are ready to give a personal eviction notice and tape it to your belly. LOL. With all the ebbs and flows of pregnancy, lets not forget that you want to document the most precious time of your baby's first days of life. They change so fast in the first few days. So the question is when to schedule your newborn session. Many parents ask the me this question.
BOOK FOR YOUR DUE DATE?
You should book your newborn session once you hit the third trimester. It's common practice to tentatively book your due date just to reserve you on our calendar. Most photographers only book a certain amount of newborn sessions so that they remain flexible for when baby comes. Once baby arrives, give us a call and we will discuss a date together within the first 2 weeks of life. If your newborn session is done after this period, you will not get the sleepy, curly poses because babies sleep less and baby's bones start to harden and will not naturally fall into the same positions as it did in the womb. After this period, babies can become more irritable with digestive issues, have more acne and peeling. Hope that helps and you do decide to go ahead with it. It's the greatest investment you will ever make in capturing your baby's first days of life!
Remember - Newborn sessions are generally held between 5 and 14 days of life. The last roughly 1 - 3 hours long. Once you book a session with us, we will send you a newborn guide with information on what to do/expect on the day of.
